Kirkenes / Girkonjárga
Kirkenes (9 masl) is the third biggest city in Finnmark, located close to the sea in the East of the County. Kirkenes has a long history as a boarder city towards both Russia and Finland, and is known for its mixed population of Norwegian, Finnish, Russian and Samii people. If you visit during the race, make sure to catch some of the festivities always going on in the city.
Finnmarksløpets FL 1200 will stay at the checkpoint in the centre of Kirkenes, hosted by the Scandic Kirkenes hotel.
